Tevva and Loop Energy to release hydrogen HGV

Tevva will launch its hydrogen powered HGV later this year. Tevva and Loop Energy are collaborating on an HGV, designed with a hydrogen fuel cell alongside its battery-electric system.

The fuel cell will top up the vehicle’s battery for long-distance travel and provides the capability to transport the necessary weight. It can also be recharged in a similar length of time to the refuelling of a standard diesel lorry.

Historically, HGV manufacturers prefer diesel engines to petrol due to their increased efficiency and longer service life. Depending on the technology installed, diesel engines produce either high levels of CO2 or NOx, both greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming.
