Prototype Flying Car Performs Successful Test Flight

A test flight for a prototype flying car has recently been completed.

According to an article on BBC News, the test saw AirCar, which is a two-person hybrid car-aircraft, take to the skies on Monday 28th June to carry out a flight between two airports in Slovakia.

The flight was described as ‘very pleasant’ by its creator Prof Stefan Klein.

The AirCar can convert itself into an aircraft from a car in just two minutes and 15 seconds and can fly at heights of 8,200ft (2,500m). Powered by a BMW engine, it has taken two years to develop.

Consultant company Morgan Stanley have predicted that the sector for flying cars could be worth up to £1 trillion ($1.5tn) by 2040. In addition, it has been speculated that even a minimal amount of sales for AirCar would provide success for its makers – Klein Vision.

“There are about 40,000 orders of aircraft in the United States alone, and if we convert 5% of those, to change the aircraft for the flying car – we have a huge market,” said Anton Zajac, who is both an adviser and investor in Klein Vision.
