US Space Force selects training HQ candidates

The Department of the Air Force has selected six candidate locations for U.S. Space Force’s Space Training and Readiness Command Headquarters.

Also known as STARCOM HQ, it is one of three Space Force field commands, responsible for personnel training, doctrine development, and the development and testing of Space Force systems.

The potential locations were all in California, Colorado or Florida. STARCOM HQ is operating out of Colorado Springs, Colorado until a permanent base is chosen.

The Space Force is the youngest branch of the US military, created from the space division of the US Air Force in 2019. It counts orbital debris tracking among its growing list of responsibilities.
