Lockheed Martin plans UK satellite base

Lockheed Martin announced that it intends to set up a satellite manufacturing facility in the UK. According to an article on SpaceNews.com, the US aerospace and defence company made the announcement on 1 March.

Lockheed Martin said this was the next stage for its ambitions in the UK. The company is currently helping the British government develop a domestic launch capability.

Nik Smith, Lockheed Martin’s UK and Europe Regional Director for Space said the company wants to build a sustainable space business in the UK, which requires an operating presence generating its own technology and intellectual property.
