Iconic Glaswegian lager producer Tennent’s has broken ground on a carbon capture facility. As reported by Herald Scotland, the £2.6 million ($3.31 million) upgrade to its famous Wellpark Brewery in the east of the city will be complete by September.

The two 25-tonne carbon capture tanks to be placed on top of its silos will allow ‘T’ to recover 95% of the gas generated during brewing. This is equivalent to 4,200 tonnes of carbon in total.

This will also allow the company to stop sourcing carbon from the north of England, at an estimated saving of 100,000km of lorry miles per year.

The company aims to become carbon neutral by 2025.
